Oak Extending Dining Table

When it comes to dining tables nothing surpasses an oak extending dining table. Oak is a rich, durable hardwood that will last for years and years. No matter the size of your home or apartment, an extending table can grow to suit any dining needs.

Oak has been used in table construction for hundreds of years. As our dining needs have evolved, so too has the oak dining table. Today’s oak tables are built to last, with a lustrous finish and plenty of amenities. Extending tables come with leaves that can be added to the table-top, enlarging the table and allowing room for more diners. When the meal is over, the leaves are removed and stored. The table is then returned to its original size.

If you’re considering an extending dining table it is important to measure the room it will be in. Then measure the table in its fully extended position. Be certain the table will fit in the designated room, remembering to leave allowance for the extra chairs.

Maintaining an oak dining table requires little effort. Keep the wood lustrous by applying wax. Or for a more permanent solution, give the table two coats of polyurethane or varnish. Keep the oak protected during meals by using place mats or a table cloth. And when placing hot items on the oak table, be sure to use a trivet or some other protective item, such as a pot holder or dish towel. This will prevent the wood from becoming scorched from the heat.
